Petrichor: Webcomic Launched

Since January of this year, I’ve been putting together a sad little comic called Petrichor. Last Friday was the official release date— the full 10-page prologue is already waiting for you to read!

Click the link to check it out. From here on out, a new page will be up every Tuesday.

So go ahead and scope out the SCAD Senior Thesis that I’ve kept in secret for so long. Find out how a fallen doctor seeks to win back the affection of his ex-girlfriend by curing her of cancer. Come back on Tuesday for the beginning of chapter 1!

Reluctant Roni

My children's book is complete!

I am blown away at the amount of work I was able to get done in only 10 weeks. This was my favorite class in the Sequential department at SCAD --- please take this elective! It's so satisfying to write, illustrate, and physically bind together a 32-page book!

Wish me well as I pioneer the world of publishing. Here are a few excerpts for ya:

My time at Savannah College of Art and Design is just about over. I cannot thank everyone enough for encouraging me through this adventure. I am so blessed to have spent the last four years at comics school.

Help! I Found Something

What started as a daily character design exercise has surged into a fun side-blog.

Each day, I challenge myself to draw five eggs and design five creatures that hatch out of them.

Sometimes I even have friends and followers submit their eggs and creature designs.

Follow the blog and see what little critters are hatching today!

Also, for all my SCAD classmates out there---make sure and stop by the Mini Comics Meet-up next Saturday! I have stickers waiting for you~

The Children's Critique

We've roughed out our stories for Children's Book class, so we decided to do a test-run with our target audience.

Special thanks to East Broad Street Elementary for having all of us swing by! This was tons of fun---the feedback was both hilarious and helpful.

Sitting down with kids and having them assess our stories strictly by the pictures was very eye-opening. In my story, the children easily identified my main characters, but didn't recognize the story location. Most of the kids said my story took place at school and not at summer camp. Oops.

Some other kids thought my story was about "the fat pony girl" instead of a rhino. They recognized the giraffe though!

I think we all have some adjustments to make based on these critiques. We'll make sure to let our new friends see the final products!

This class rocks my world. If you're looking for a SCAD sequential art elective, take children's book.

Petrichor

It's the end of the end.

I'm in my Senior Project class at last.

In these last ten weeks of school, I plan on completing the first ten pages of a larger comic. I plan on continuing this project after school and possibly launching it in a webcomic format. So keep an eye out!

My comic, Petrichor is the story of a laid-off doctor who discovers the supernatural healing powers of a hidden spring and plans to cure his ex girlfriend of cancer. Here are a few snippets of my progress thus far:

More details will be released as the story progresses. Keep checking back!

Children's Book Concepts

I'm starting my final quarter at Savannah College of Art and Design.

As cliche as it sounds, I really have no idea where time went.

I'm in a children's book class this quarter and it's already rocking my world. I'm putting together a story about a little rhino girl who overcomes her shyness at summer camp. The whole thing will be completed in March, so keep an eye out!

Here are some concepts thus far.

Winter Wrap-Up

This winter break, I dedicated my time to experimenting with digital coloring.

I was able to polish up my pages from Visual Storytelling II.

That's about all I have for 2013. Looking forward to what 2014 brings. One more quarter of school!
