Drawing Dragons

While I knock out some freelance work, I've been taking some drawing suggestions over my instagram. During April, I drew some classic dragons!

Quarantine is proving to be a surprisingly busy time for me. I might have to slow my progress on my webcomic, Taking Back Toku, but my weekly updates will still remain right on time.

I've almost reached 100 pages! That's pretty cool.

I'm trying to stay positive amidst all the disappointing cancelations for the year. As of right now, I'm doubtful that I'll be a part of any conventions this year. Maybe 2020 is a good time to take a break and regroup.

Stay safe everyone!

Dynamic Duos: Monster March

Last year was the genesis of a fun new month-long drawing challenge, Monster March. Based on prompts, I draw 31 different monsters. View last year's entries here.

This year I wanted to mix things up a bit. Since my workload is a little tapped out at the moment, I wanted to participate with just 15 illustrations. So I took suggestions for Kaiju teams! Here they are:

This was lots of fun! I love opening up my inbox on Instagram for follower suggestions. As always, you can find me at @lisanaffziger

My Tijuana comic is out for submissions right now. Hoping I find favor in that endeavor.

I am 80 + pages into my webcomic Taking Back Tokusatsu. I'm happy with my progress, but I'm afraid I might have to put this project on pause. I have some great freelance work coming my way that might have to take precedence over everything else. Not necessarily a bad problem to have. We'll see!

That's all for now! Until next time!

Digimon and a New Decade

2020 is here! I'm kicking off the decade with some fun freelance work with Matt Mair Lowery, known for his series YA Lifeformed.
More on this short story as it develops. But it's been an exciting project thus far!

Last year I launched my kaiju webcomic Taking Back Tokusatsu. It's been received well online and I greatly appreciate the partnership with my Patreon supporters. Forty-eight pages are available to read on the comic's website and I've completed seventy-four pages over all. At this moment, chapter 2 has come to a close. I'm happy with the progress that I've made and I'm eager to push forward.

It's at this time of year that I remember the major milestone of completing my very first webcomic, Petrichor--something I accomplished four years ago.  Since then, I haven't slowed down. I love comics and I'm so happy I can put them out in the world.

This month's Instagram drawing suggestion was different Digimon! These drawings were fun to put together and feel nostalgic.

And here's the rest of the month's sketch dump. On to February!

Tijuana 3 & Year's End

Another year complete! You know what that means:

Putting those summaries together is always fun. This year I drew lots of rainbow dinosaurs and found out that people like when I draw rainbow dinosaurs. Win-win!

Freelance work put me behind schedule on drawing my webcomic, Taking Back Toku. That's alright. I'm proud of what I was able to accomplish this year alone.

A goal that I did manage to meet, however, was completing my third Tijuana journal comic.

A fourth short story is certainly on schedule for next year. After that, I hope to compile everything into a single volume. I've really enjoyed this project over the years.

More is ahead in 2020. It's been a busy year.
  • My graphic novel was released
  • I went to the ALA Conference and spoke on a discussion panel
  • I attended C2E2 for the first time as a guest speaker
  • I launched my Patreon and produced 65+ pages of my new webcomic
It's all been great and I'm looking forward to what's next. Here's a final 2019 sketch dump:
