This was a wonderful opportunity to try out some new techniques. I did some experimentation with photograph/texture overlays on top of my original watercolor/gouache sketches. What I ended up with was a nice montage of photographs from the trip blended in with observational drawing entries. I will keep up this technique in the future!

Lodi Travelogue
I had a great vacation in Wisconsin with my family last weekend. Time off work didn't mean time off of drawing!

Hodgepodge
None of this really has any direction
But at least I've kept myself busy.
I did some sketchbook work at picnics and pool parties.

I did some sketchbook work at picnics and pool parties.
Worked on some character design stuff.
Helped make cardboard cut-outs of farm animals for VBS at church:
And did some goofy fan art so yeah.

Taking a Second Look
I've gotten in a better habit of never leaving the house without a sketchbook. Quite a few more opportunities to draw, no matter for how brief of a time.
I've also spent a lot of time looking back at my old artwork and exploring the reasons why I liked drawing in the first place. Some of my middle school character designs weren't all that brilliant, but it's nice to look back at old work and give it a new spin.
